NEC announced its selection by Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services to deploy a mobile backhaul solution

TOKYO -- NEC Corporation announced today its selection byVietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company (Headquarters: Ha Noi, Vietnam,Managing Director: Mr. Le Ngoc Minh) to deploy a mobile backhaul solutionbased on NEC’s ultra compact microwave communications system, PASOLINK.

VMS is the leading mobile operator in Vietnam, with more than 2.9 millionsubscribers at the end of 2008, and its 3G mobile services are expected tobegin later this year. PASOLINK will be introduced throughout the country insupport of VMS’s network. “PASOLINK’s flexibility enables the system toprocess a wide variety of transmission speeds and interfaces within the sameplatform, which facilitates mobile traffic growth, enables smooth transitionto new 3G transmission systems and the expansion of mobile network coveragein Vietnam,” said Tadashi Ugajin, General Manager of NEC’s InternationalSales Division.
