MAHWAH, N.J.-- RAD Data Communications has unveiled the new Airmux-5000 carrier-class point-to-multipoint Ethernet radio system, a wireless solution for business access users demanding high-capacity throughput with guaranteed bandwidth according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) per subscriber.

The Airmux-5000 overcomes the limitations of WiMAX and WiFi, which are designed for mass market residential subscribers. WiMAX, for example, is required to be transmitted over a licensed band, while WiFi does not guarantee Quality of Service (QoS) or SLAs. Proprietary pre-WiMAX solutions are intended for business and high-end residential applications and include basic QoS, but do not provide high bandwidth or guarantee SLAs.

With its 200 Mbps of aggregate throughput over unlicensed links, coupled with an ability to supply a guaranteed bandwidth SLA per subscriber, the Airmux-5000 offers a unique solution for the enterprise market.

“The Airmux-5000 is an ideal solution for carriers and ISPs targeting first mile enterprise connectivity, as well as private networks looking to deploy broadband and mission critical applications,” states Meira Erez, Airmux Product Manager at RAD Data Communications.
