Jai Thattil, director of strategic marketing for Juniper Networks, joins the podcast to discuss Juniper's work in the open RAN space, why the networking company has partnered with Intel and Rakuten on O-RAN, updates on standards for the technology and his predictions for new O-RAN developments in 2022.

"Through this collaboration, we want to make sure our RIC [radio intelligent controller] and Intel's FlexRAN are working together to bring [O-RAN] solutions to the market," said Thattil. He adds that Intel and Juniper are also working closely with customers to trial O-RAN equipment.

Thattil also explains how Juniper's exclusive IP licensing deal with Netsia, announced earlier this year, supports Juniper's efforts around developing its RIC technology.
