HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Adtran®, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADTN - News), The Network Access Company and leading provider of telecommunications equipment, today announced the selection of Adtran's Total Access® DSLAMs for the deployment of ADSL-based services by Frontier, A Citizens Communications Company. Frontier is one of a large number of major Independent Telephone Companies in the United States deploying Adtran DSLAMs across their entire footprint. "The Total Access System will integrate easily into our network, allowing us to expand ADSL delivery throughout our customer base," states David Frezza, Vice President of Network Planning and Support for Frontier. "The interoperability, scalability and economics of Adtran's DSLAMs make it an excellent choice for our DSL deployment expansion."
The Total Access 3000 is utilized in the central office and remote terminals for new installations and retrofits. The Adtran system accommodates rural, low-density subscriber areas equally as well as dense, metropolitan locations. The Total Access 3000 functions as a traditional DSLAM and can also provide IMA Aggregation for the entire network utilizing interfaces that range from DS1 to OC-3c. Frontier will incorporate the Total Access Element Management System (EMS) to provide the user interfaces and functionality required to provision, monitor and maintain DSL and other broadband services across the entire network.
Frontier will also deploy the Total Access 1210 for remote locations. This Mini-DSLAM provides Frontier with a cost-effective solution for small to medium service areas. Scalable to 96 ports, with a common network interface, the Total Access 1210 is equipped with 24 ADSL ports and integrated splitters. It is sized to accommodate typical line counts and take rates that may vary. Just 1U high with front panel access, the Total Access 1210 is temperature hardened and NEBS Level 3 compliant.
