DoCoMo Backhauls With NEC

Selected as a vendor for NTT DoCoMo's LTE backhaul network

TOKYO -- NEC Corporation announced today the expansion of its popular CX2000 family of intelligent multi-service switches with the release of the new CX2800 Series. The new series elevates the CX2000 family into the 10G era, and is positioned as the “heavy-lifting” solution for switching capacity, traffic engineering and guaranteed SLA (Service Level Agreement) service quality for tomorrow’s LTE and multi-service backhaul networks.

The CX2800 Series has already been selected by NTT DOCOMO, INC. for their new mobile backhaul LTE network. The companies are currently engaged in testing and optimization activities in preparation for commercial service.

As an LTE network solution leader, NEC has already been selected by NTT DOCOMO as a vendor for the development and manufacture of LTE wireless base station infrastructure, SAE core network systems and the LTE cellular-phone terminals to be used in its future LTE Network.

Although just launched today, NEC has already secured strong demand from customers seeking reliable, “long life” mobile telecommunications networks that are capable of handle exponential traffic growth. The CX2800 has been specially designed for upgrades to 40G and 100G technologies as needed in the future.
