Dr. Jim Goell, formerly of Tyco Telecommunications, joins OmniGuide Communications as VP of engineering

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- OmniGuide Communications, Inc., a company developing hollow-core photonic bandgap fibers and components, today announced that Dr. Jim Goell has joined the company as its Vice President of Engineering.Dr. Goell has extensive experience in fiber optics, integrated optics and microwaves both as a manager and as a technical contributor. His prior positions include Managing Director of Program Management, Tyco Telecommunications Development Laboratory; Director of Engineering, Tyco Electronics Netconnect Products Division; President, Lightwave Communications and VP of Engineering, ITT Electro-Optical Products Division. He started his career in the Millimeter Wave Repeater Research Department, Bell Laboratories and earned a Ph.D. in microwaves from Cornell University. Jim was introduced to OmniGuide by Dr. Peter Runge, Tyco Telecommunications’ CTO, and a member of OmniGuide’s advisory board.Ray Stata, OmniGuide’s Acting CEO, said: “We are very fortunate to have attracted someone with Jim’s capability and stature to OmniGuide.
