OMM, Village Networks Team Up

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Village Networks, Inc., the leader in integrated IP-over-optics networking solutions, and OMM, Inc., the leading supplier of photonic switching subsystems based on micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, today announced their pioneering efforts to deliver the first solution for optical switches optimized for today's metro/regional networks. Through a close partnership, the two companies designed an innovative optical subsystem architecture that allows Village Networks' iOPN2000 to scale to a 64x64 switch matrix using two-dimensional (2D) MEMS technology.

"Our customers require communications networking solutions that deliver a high return on their investments. The iOPN2000, with the OMM optical subsystem, is the only networking node that meets service providers' needs for a high level of performance, scalability, reliability, as well as ease of management, small form factor, and excellent price-performance," said Kai Eng, founder, president and CEO of Village Networks. "By using OMM's 2D MEMS optical subsystem, we are achieving another technology breakthrough and further demonstrating our commitment to radical simplicity - that is, providing our customers a complete networking node with simplified management and operations that will dramatically lower their operational costs."
