Optical Communication Products announces SFP optical transceivers with integrated digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) functionality

CHATSWORTH, Calif. -- Optical Communication Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCPI), a leading manufacturer of fiber optic subsystems and modules for metropolitan, local and storage area networks, today announced the general availability of their small form pluggable (SFP) transceiver product line with integrated digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) to support a broad range of SONET/SDH and Ethernet-based applications.“We continue to focus our R&D efforts on providing value-add solutions for our customers,” said Kirk Bovill, director of marketing, “The addition of DDM capabilities into our SFP product line signals OCP’s commitment to address the current trend within the networking industry to integrate higher levels of functionality into optical modules.”OCP has started sampling SONET/SDH versions of OC-48, OC-12, and OC-3, as well as Fibre Channel, and Gigabit Ethernet options.The OCP DDM option adheres to the SFF-8472 Revision 9.3 specification and enables the end-user to monitor five key areas in the performance of the SFP transceiver: internal temperature, DC supply voltage, transmit bias current, transmit output power and receive optical signal level.
