Obama Owes It to Web 2.0

4:40 PM -- Today on Contentinople:

  • The consumer has been spoiled by free online content -- this is no surprise. And execs on a panel at Advertising 2.0 agree that there's a problem, but they still haven't figured out a way to make money online.

  • After Yahoo's latest response to Icahn's accusations of padded executive severance packages -- a denial, naturally -- we're not buying it. This time it's because the company's financials aren't up to snuff, and Scott Raynovich has the numbers to prove it.

  • BitTorrent gets closer to realizing its goal of set-top and Internet device entrenchment. D-Link Systems announces it has added BitTorrent's commercial software to its network-attached storage devices

  • CBS takes the lead, at least among online networks, according to Hitwise. This makes CBS Interactive SVP and GM Anthony Soohoo "fairly happy."
And in News Bits: Obama can thank Web 2.0 for his success -- it's where he has gotten the word out, made "Friends," and raised money.
