Northrop Intros 10-Gig ATCA Backplane

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Northrop Grumman Interconnect Technologies today announced that it has released a 16 slot Dual Star 10Gbps enabled backplane based on the ATCA architecture. Through advanced printed circuit design techniques, the Interconnect Technologies system supports 10Gbps serial signaling in a full multi-aggressor crosstalk environment.

While maintaining manufacturability and cost-effective design parameters, the Interconnect Technologies solution exhibits low channel loss and susceptibility of crosstalk. By testing with the Xilinx Virtex-II ProT X FPGA with integrated RocketIOT standard NRZ transceivers, the channels ran error free with up to 10 crosstalk aggressors.

"The industry has moved far beyond proving feasibility in a single through channel, our customers now need to know that these 10Gbps channels work in a real system with other 10Gbps channels," says Doug Hynd, Vice President Sales & Marketing of Northrop Grumman Interconnect Technologies. "We have shown continued leadership in the development of 10Gbps channel technologies and through the development of our DatabankT, system designers can now quickly assess design parameters and understand the performance possibilities."

Interconnect Technologies will be showcasing the ATCA system in the Interconnect Technologies booth #111 at DesignCon 2005 February 1-2 in Santa Clara, CA. Interconnect Technologies will also be participating in the OIF Interoperability demonstration on display in booth #907.
