Nortel Wins $165M Net2000 Contract

BOSTON -- Net2000 (Nasdaq:NTKK), an integrated communications provider, has selected Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT)(TSE:NT.) to provide network equipment and professional services for expansion of its network in the United States under a three-year agreement estimated to be worth US$165 million. Nortel Networks will provide Net2000 with a complete packet telephony solution including Nortel Networks Passport multiservice switches and gateways, Nortel Networks Succession communications servers, Nortel Networks OPTera Metro optical solutions, and professional services. Net2000 plans to use the expanded network to offer integrated voice, video and data services to an increasing number of medium-to-large enterprise customers.

"This optical and next generation equipment that we have selected from Nortel Networks will enable us to be much more competitive in a tightening market with lower capital expenditures and increased service revenue. We selected Nortel Networks as our vendor of choice for its superior networking portfolio and proven professional services."
