BOSTON -- Building on its globalleadership position in providing high-performance components andmodules for optical networks, Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT) (TSE:NT.) hasshipped for system trials the industry's first MEMS-based tunablelasers for 40 Gbps systems. Nortel Networks MEMS-based tunable laser broadens its portfolio ofwavelength agile components and modules, joining Nortel Networks LCW5high-power, continuous wave (CW) laser. The MEMS-based tunable laseris scheduled for general availability in the fourth quarter of thisyear. LCW5 is now generally available for large volume deployments.
