Nortel Appoints Marketing Strategist

TORONTO -- John Roth, president and chief executive officer, Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT)(TSE:NT), today announced that the board of directors has appointed Anil Khatod to the newly created position of Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer. Khatod is now accountable for the Company's business and technology strategies, end-to-end solutions architecture and value proposition, strategic planning, investments, alliances, and global marketing and communications, including media and analyst relations, nortelnetworks.com, advertising, branding, and government relations.

"Our combined strategy and marketing organizations, led by Anil, will ensure our IP advantage is as valued as our Optical leadership and that we, with our customers, take the leadership position in the race to unleash the potential to profit from the high-performance Internet," said Roth. "Service providers will increasingly be in a position to profit from emerging, revenue generating opportunities based on Optically-charged, low-cost bandwidth, Nortel Networks IP leadership and service enabling solutions."

Nortel Networks also announced that F. William Conner, president of eBusiness Solutions, is leaving to become president and chief executive officer of Entrust Technologies (Nasdaq:ENTU), a leading global provider of Internet security services and solutions, effective immediately. Joseph Davis, president, Commercial Markets for eBusiness Solutions, Nortel Networks, will assume Conner's responsibilities.
