RICHARDSON, Texas –– Fiber-to-the-home vendor iPhotonix today announced that it has completed the acquisition of the network functions virtualization (NFV) assets of Netsocket, Inc., which provides NFV management and delivery. The addition of Netsocket’s NFV solution, which has been validated in some of the world's most demanding networks, strengthens iPhotonix’s networking portfolio for optical access deployments of GPON and Active Ethernet as well as traditional copper networks.

"The new iPhotonix Virtual Network NFV platform will significantly enhance our offering with NFV, which plays a major role in helping traditional communications service providers migrate and harness the power of virtualization," said Amir Elbaz, CEO, iPhotonix.

The iPhotonix Virtual Network (iVN) platform provides scalable, secure and agile delivery of enterprise and cloud-based applications. Its tools will not only enable communication service providers to more quickly create network services but also to reduce time and costs of developing and managing those services.

The iVN platform offers functions such as performance monitoring, firewalls and end device management that run on lower cost commodity hardware than the typical expensive and complex proprietary equipment. Additionally, the iVN platform leverages an intuitive graphical user interface to build service templates and business rules to easily introduce and manage services.

The acquisition was completed on March 2nd, 2015, and the Netsocket development team will integrate with the iPhotonix development team at iPhotonix’s Richardson, Texas development center.
