Affirmed Lands Deal in Spain
ACTON, Mass. -- Affirmed Networks, the leader in the virtualization of mobile networks, announced today that it has been selected by Aire Networks, a mobile network provider based in Spain, to provide the Virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) platform that will serve as the foundation for the virtualization of the operator’s mobile network. The win represents the latest example of how Affirmed Networks is enabling operators of all sizes to embrace NFV as a transformational technology, and is Affirmed Networks’ third customer deployment in Spain.
Aire Networks is committed to achieving leadership in the telecommunications market through the delivery of innovative technological services and solutions to its customers. As part of this commitment, Aire Networks will deploy Affirmed Networks’ Mobile Content Cloud solution as the foundation for virtualizing their mobile network infrastructure. Network Function Virtualization (NFV) continues to emerge as a revolutionary architecture for building fixed and mobile networks. Offering a host of financial and operational benefits, Affirmed Networks’ NFV solution is currently carrying traffic for some of the world’s largest network operators.
“The virtualization of our mobile infrastructure permits Aire Networks to reduce our overall network costs, allowing us to offer our customers more flexible and economic services, while also opening new revenue streams for the company,” said Miguel Tecles, Aire Networks CTO. “Our evolution toward this new architecture was greatly enhanced by the strength of Affirmed Networks’ team and technology which enabled us to move quickly and successfully with our NFV deployment.”
Aire Networks’ selection of Affirmed Networks’ technology is an example of the growing interest in NFV from emerging operators who want to experience the flexibility, cost savings and new revenue opportunities that the architecture provides. Another benefit of NFV is speed of deployment – emerging operators that are not tied to inflexible, legacy networks are able to deploy NFV even more quickly than their larger counterparts. Many emerging service providers are drawn to NFV due to their familiarity with software-based architectures from an IT perspective.
“The continued excitement we see with NFV is clearly indicative of the industry-wide evolution toward virtualized infrastructures,” said Mohammed Shanableh, Vice President of Global Operations of Affirmed Networks who further commented: “This evolution is occurring across operators of all sizes, in all geographies, as our customers continue to recognize the transformational benefits this technology can provide from both a technology and business perspective.” Affirmed Networks Mobile Content Cloud solution for NFV significantly transforms and advances the state of mobile networks by moving away from legacy infrastructures to a more agile and flexible virtualized architecture. The Affirmed Mobile Content Cloud empowers the creation and launch of new services and applications in a matter of hours and days – instead of months with traditional hardware-based products.
