Mentor Graphics adds NewLogic 802.11 wireless LAN platform to growing wireless semiconductor IP portfolio
October 30, 2002
WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT) today announced an extension to its remarketing agreement with NewLogic, a leading supplier of semiconductor intellectual property (IP) cores for wireless systems, to include the WiLD(tm) 802.11 Wireless LAN platform. The agreement allows System-on-Chip (SoC) designers to get system designs to market faster by licensing a complete platform for wireless LAN IC development from Mentor Graphics. The 802.11 wireless platform complements Universal Serial Bus (USB), Bluetooth (tm) and other standards-based IP offerings in the Mentor Graphics Inventra (tm) family, enabling the company to further address growth in the consumer electronic, computing and home networking markets. "802.11 is a complex standard with multiple variants," said Mike Kaskowitz, general manager of the Mentor Graphics Intellectual Property division. "Developing complete hardware and software IP solutions to support this standard requires almost 30-people years of extensive engineering effort. Through our extended marketing agreement with NewLogic, we are able to provide customers with a pre-verified IP platform that brings standards-based functionality to their end products without the time and cost associated with developing a solution from scratch."
