BURNABY, British Columbia -- WebTech Wireless (TSX-V:WEW), a global provider of wireless fleet management services, today announced an initial order and distribution agreement totaling $1.5 million with Crown Telecom of Brazil. Crown Telecom’s decision to partner with WebTech was solidified as a result of the recovery of a stolen vehicle using WebTech’s Quadrant system. Crown Telecom had been evaluating a pilot system from WebTech Wireless for its anti-theft and fleet management business when one of its test vehicles was stolen. Using WebTech’s Quadrant system technology, Crown Telecom was able to give Brazilian Police the precise last known location of the stolen vehicle and track its movements toward the car-theft ring hideout.Commenting on the agreement and market entry to Brazil, Anwar Sukkarie, WebTech Wireless President & CEO said, “We are delighted to be partnered with Crown Telecom and the capture of a car-theft ring is more than just a great beginning. WebTech currently offers flexible wireless fleet management services in over 20 countries and we are excited about expanding our robust and flexible wireless fleet management solutions into Brazil in partnership with Crown Telecom.”“This early success provides a solid foundation for our partnership with WebTech and our business launch in Brazil,” commented Crown Telecom President Jose Antonio Pereira Jr. “It was a very exciting day as we went from the shock of the vehicle being stolen to the realization that we could literally watch where the vehicle was being driven in real-time.” Over 260,000 of the insured vehicles in Brazil are stolen each year resulting in a loss of approximately $2.4 billion for the insurance companies.
