TAMPA, Fla. -- Nearly 500,000 households in the Tampa Bay region can now bundle the fastest FiOS broadband Internet service available in the market today with Verizon's popular FiOS Premier digital TV package and its Freedom Essentials unlimited local and long-distance calling package.

Verizon today announced introductory pricing for a new triple-play bundle that features the company's 20 megabits-per-second (Mbps) downstream, 5 Mbps upstream service and a new double-play bundle.* The new bundles, which will complement the company's existing 5 Mbps bundle, will be available immediately for FiOS-eligible customers in Hillsborough, Pasco, Manatee, Sarasota and Pinellas counties. More households will become FiOS eligible in 2007 and beyond as Verizon continues to deploy more fiber and secure additional cable franchise agreements.

The lineup for Verizon FiOS bundles in Florida now includes:

  • Triple plays (where FiOS TV, Internet and voice are offered)

  • 20/5 Mbps Internet service, FiOS Premier digital TV and Freedom Essentials voice - $109.99 per month.

  • 5/2 Mbps Internet service, FiOS Premier digital TV and Freedom Essentials voice - $99.99 per month.

  • Double plays (whether FiOS TV is available or not)

  • 20/5 Mbps Internet service and Freedom Essentials voice - $69.99 per month.

  • 5/2 Mbps Internet service and Freedom Essentials voice - $59.99 per month.

At 20 Mbps, consumers can expect download experiences from the Internet unlike anything they have witnessed before. For example, customers can download a two-hour movie in around nine minutes or a one-hour video or 20-40 digital photographs in approximately 20 seconds. With 5 Mbps upload speed, users also enjoy super-fast delivery of content to friends and family. The FiOS Premier TV package was recently enhanced with the addition of three high- definition (HD) channels to the national lineup, bringing to 29 the number of HD channels available in Florida - the most of any television provider. Freedom Essentials offers unlimited local and long-distance calling, along with caller ID, voice mail and call waiting, as well as the 99.9 percent reliability and user security the Verizon landline network is known for.

"Today's announcement demonstrates our continued leadership in providing both the leading fiber technology and tremendous value for our Florida market," said John Ferrell, Verizon's senior vice president and general manager for the Southeast region. "Verizon's customers can enjoy the fastest Internet speed available in both directions, digital or high-definition TV and the most reliable voice service at a very competitive price. At the same time, we are maintaining other excellent options for anyone who wants the power of true fiber optics delivered directly into his or her home."

Verizon is providing FiOS services on the nation's most advanced digital all-fiber-optic network direct to consumers' homes. While much of the initial attention has been on the digital and high-definition TV this network makes possible, the fiber-driven Internet service is also unparalleled and revolutionary in the marketplace. In addition to offering 20 Mbps download speed, the new bundle also features a 5 Mbps service back to the Internet, easily the fastest upload speed available in the market and more than 20 times faster than others offer locally. Photo sharing, videos, file sharing and more are quicker and less frustrating with this ultra-fast speed. FiOS Internet customers who play games online report that the faster service gives them better performance over their online rivals, including much less latency.

"Today's announcement signifies once again that Verizon is creating technology and consumer packaging that is changing the way we live and communicate," said Ferrell.

*All speeds reflect initial connections between a computer and Verizon's switching centers. Actual throughput speeds will vary based on numerous factors, including network and Internet congestion and the speed of Web sites visited on the Internet.
