UTStarcom Gets ISO 9001:2000 OK

UTStarcom achieves ISO 9001:2000 certification worldwide establishing quality standards for at all of its R&D centers

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- UTStarcom, Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI), a global leader in IP access networking and services, today announced that it has received ISO 9001:2000 certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

UTStarcom first earned ISO 9001:2000 certification for its research and design center in Iselin, New Jersey in February 2001. In January 2002, the company's Hangzhou, China offices were certified and the Shenzhen R&D Center followed in May 2003. In September 2003, UTStarcom's development center in New Dehli, India and the company's headquarters in Alameda, California received certification. In addition, UTStarcom's R&D centers in Chicago and Bangalore, India, which were acquired last May as part of the CommWorks acquisition, also hold ISO 9001:2000 certification.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a network of national standards institutes from 160 countries around the world. ISO 9001:2000 certification was established as a family of standards that codifies requirements for instituting a company's quality management system. The certification is universally recognized and accepted and is voluntarily pursued by companies that desire to improve their standards of quality. More than 610,000 organizations around the world currently hold ISO 9001:2000 certifications.
