ISTANBUL -- Turkcell (NYSE:TKC, ISE: TCELL), the leading communications and technology company in Turkey with 34.4 million customers as of September 30, 2011, has posted its mobile balance for 2011, including data on voice, SMS, MMS, mobile internet, and mobile application usage.
Turkcell continued to lead Turkey’s mobile communication market in 2011. During the year, voice minutes used by Turkcell customers reached 87 billion, which amounts to 165,000 years in length. The high demand for smartphones and tablets resulted in a significant rise in mobile internet usage per customer of 67%, while unit prices based on mobile internet usage declined by 32%. Turkcell customers’ mobile internet usage reached 26.5 million GB, which translates into 5.6 million DVDs. In the same period, the number of SMS messages sent was 85 billion, in addition to 121 million MMS messages.
