The net new additions to the subscriber base in the first quarter of 2005 was 28% higher than the number of net additions during the same period in 2004 due to the favorable operating environment and our acquisition campaigns, though 18% lower than the net additions during the fourth quarter of 2004 in line with historical seasonality trends. In the first quarter of 2005, Turkcell's churn rate increased to 2.5% from 2.0% in the fourth quarter of 2004 and improved compared to the churn rate in the first quarter of 2004 which was 3.2%.

Mr. Muzaffer Akpinar, Turkcell's CEO, commented "The favorable macroeconomic environment and our acquisition campaigns in the first quarter of 2005, as well as our churn prevention activities and mass loyalty programs have contributed to our subscriber growth."

Turkcell expects the growth in subscriber base to continue in 2005, though at a slower pace than in 2004. In 2005, the churn rate is expected to rise above 9.1% annual churn rate of 2004, however remain below the 2003 annual churn rate of 14.5%, due to intensifying competition in the Turkish market.
