PASADENA, Calif. -- Tunable Photonics (www.tunablephotonics.com), manufacturer of wavelength locking devices and wavelength characterization systems, today announced an innovation in its TrueLock(TM) wavelength locker product line, with the availability of a 25 Gigahertz free spectral range (FSR) version of its active locking technology. Tunable will show its complete product line at the OFC (Optical Fiber Communications) Conference in Anaheim, CA March 19-21 at booth #1820. The product brings industry-leading fixed and tunable laser locking accuracy to the densest WDM networks to date. Such 25 GHz networks are now in development for deployment later in 2002, and Tunable Photonics believes its wavelength locker will help laser manufacturers and network integrators overcome accuracy challenges that are inherited with the greater channel density of these networks. The need for TrueLock(TM) wavelength lockers is driven by increasingly narrow channel spacing in DWDM systems and the resultant wavelength accuracy requirement on lasers transmitting in these systems. Lasers whose emitted wavelength drifts outside the target wavelength risk higher bit error rates (BER) as data begins to overlap to an adjacent channel.
