Telos Technology, Colubris, and Adjungo collaborate on solution for converged cellular and WLAN services for enterprise
February 10, 2003
LAVAL, Quebec and WALTHAM, Mass. -- TELOS Technology, Colubris Networks and Adjungo Networks today announced they are collaborating on the development and deployment of a converged solution that delivers new levels of communications mobility and integration between enterprise wireless LANs(WLANs) and cellular networks. The solution is comprised of an All-IP network architecture comprised of an IP-based cellular core and access network from TELOS Technology; secure WLAN solutions for enterprises and public hot spots from Colubris Networks; and SIM/Virtual SIM security, mobility and management solutions from Adjungo Networks. The integrated offering fits seamlessly into an existing mobile operator's infrastructure. The solution allows mobile operators to leverage existing WAN infrastructure (GSM or CDMA) with SIM-related secured access and deploy wireless access networks targeted at the enterprise market. By exploiting the roaming and mobility capabilities of the solution, mobile operators can develop new revenue-generating opportunities in the enterprise market for seamless voice and WLAN data services, effectively enabling the new mobile office. Mobile operators can tailor voice and data features and services to enterprises of various sizes and complexities. Depending upon work process requirements and security policies, user groups are defined with their own sets of access capabilities, Class of Service and service features. Roaming and mobility enables users to freely roam between cellular and WLAN networks and access new services and features. The solution also accommodates concurrent enterprise access to corporate resources and visitor access to the Internet over a single wireless infrastructure. In the new converged cellular and WLAN network, wireless enterprise subscribers use the same cellular handset (as in the public wireless networks) within their wireless enterprise network to access additional PBX/Centrex type voice features. Based on next generation network wireless softswitch architecture, cellular radios are deployed in the enterprise IP network providing radio coverage and capacity wherever required. "The new combined solution with Colubris and Adjungo enables TELOS to provide voice and data services using integrated cellular and WLAN technologies on a single IP network," says Jack Mar, CEO of TELOS Technology. "This is an excellent addition to the global cooperative ecosystem initiative led by TELOS and China PUTIAN to deliver the 3G All-IP network solution." Telos Technology Inc. Colubris Networks Inc. Adjungo Networks Inc.
