Trapeze Networks enhances its RingMaster WLAN lifecycle management suite
January 17, 2005
PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Trapeze Networks(tm), maker of award-winning wireless local area networking (WLAN) systems, today announced significant enhancements to its RingMaster(tm) WLAN lifecycle management suite. In addition to best-in-class RF planning, RingMaster lifecycle management includes new wizard-based configuration tools, automatic configuration verification, advanced change management, highly scalable monitor servers, and new time-based reports.
As WLANs grow, hundreds of devices must be configured and thousands of roaming 802.11 clients must be monitored. The cost to implement and maintain a WLAN can add up quickly and dwarf capital costs by 2-1. IT organisations can reduce operating costs with the right set of WLAN management tools.
"RingMaster is unique because I can manage every aspect of the wireless network with the same set of tools that I use for RF planning," said Chip Greel, senior network architect at Finisar Corp. "I save countless hours using RingMaster, starting with RF planning, and then it provides me with superb configuration, monitoring and reporting capabilities. RingMaster just keeps getting better and better."
Management is essential in any 802.11 enterprise deployment, and choosing the right set of WLAN management tools is important.
"It might seem odd, but we see management capabilities as perhaps the most important part of a wireless LAN system, and a key differentiator," said Craig Mathias, a principal at the wireless advisory firm Farpoint Group. "Trapeze realised this early on, and has continued to enhance its products with the tools vital to large-scale deployments."
