Telecom Italia Mobile and 3 renew their roaming and football content agreement
February 12, 2004
ROME -- TIM and 3 have extended the range of their commercial association and revised the terms of their roaming, site sharing and interconnection agreements.
Today's agreement renews the preceding voice roaming agreement until June 2006. It also adds a mechanism whereby 3 benefits from a traffic volume-based price reduction on roaming, while TIM enjoys a minimum turnover commitment. GPRS roaming service pricing terms have also been set until the end of 2006.
Moreover, the agreement includes provisions for sharing the two carriers' mobile phone broadcast rights to TIM Serie A and TIM Serie B football club sports events. These are, specifically, the rights to: Juventus, Inter, Milan, Roma, Lazio, Reggina, Genoa, Piacenza, Reggiana, Salernitana, Bari and Siena via UMTS and GPRS for 3; and for TIM: Roma, Lazio, Inter via GPRS, Torino, Bologna and the Italian national team via UMTS.
The two companies have also agreed to implement a co-siting plan that, by the end of this year, will provide 3 with even more sites than agreed under the current contract.
