LONDON -- LogicaCMG announced today that it has won a contract with Telemig Celular, a leading GSM mobile operator in Minas Gerais, Brazil, with more then 2.6 million subscribers, to deploy its Next Generation Short Message Service Centre (SMSC). The agreement also includes two years of support services.

Telemig has selected LogicaCMG's all-IP Next Generation messaging architecture to rapidly and cost-effectively introduce new advanced SMS messaging and browsing services (such as SMS voting, polls and quizzes) to its fast-growing customer base. Because of its scalable nature the SMSC will be able to support the sudden increases in traffic that these attractive premium services will create, as well as supporting Telemig's growth as it gains market share in the longer term.

Álvaro Peçanha, engineering manager at Telemig Celular said; "Brazil is one of the world's fastest growing mobile markets and, as such, competition among mobile operators is fierce. In this dynamic market it is essential that Telemig can offer timely, added-value services, and LogicaCMG's platform has effectively fulfilled this need."

Vancrei Oliveira, Sales & Marketing Director, LogicaCMG global telecoms in South America said: "SMS traffic continues to generate revenue for Brazilian mobile operators and customers are rapidly adopting premium SMS services.Telemig's decision to implement LogicaCMG's SMSC reinforces our leadership in this rapidly evolving market and confirms the strength of our product portfolio.
