SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland -- TE Connectivity today announced that its partner ITT (Indochina Telecommunication Technology- www.itt.vn) has deployed TE Connectivity’s FlexWave Prism Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to provide mobile services for Vietnam Mobile Services (VMS) in Phu My Hung, a suburb of Ho Chi Minh City. Outdoor cellular service was poor in the newly built area, but zoning restrictions prohibited ITT from deploying a traditional cell tower. The FlexWave Prism system provides mobile coverage and capacity with unobtrusive, pole-mounted remote units.

“We needed a solution that would meet zoning requirements and could be installed quickly and easily,” said Mr Nguyen Bao Long, Vice Director at VMS2. “The FlexWave Prism system allowed us to deliver services by extending the signal over fibre from a nearby base station out into the new neighborhood.”

As deployed in Phu My Hung, the FlexWave Prism system includes 20 remote units. It delivers 1800 and 2100 MHz frequencies to provide service for VMS subscribers. The system was quick to install and service was available in the neighborhood in only one month.
