BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Synacor, a leading technology company providing Internet solutions to ISPs, media companies and advertisers, announced today that veteran interactive media executive Tim Peterman has been named Chief Operating Officer of the company.

Peterman, whose career has been focused on building, acquiring and operating interactive and e-commerce businesses, joins Synacor after having served as senior vice president of interactive media for Scripps Network Interactive (NYSE: SNI). Previously, he had held executive positions with IAC (NASDAQ: IACI), Sinclair Communications (NASDAQ: SBGI), and Tribune Company.

During his six years with Scripps, which owns popular cable networks such as HGTV and Food Network, Peterman helped guide the company’s expanding presence into interactive media. This included his leadership role in the acquisition and operations of Shopzilla, a leading comparison shopping service for products in the United States.
