Sycamore Networks elects Paul Chisholm to board of directors

CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Sycamore Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMR), a leader in intelligent optical networking, today announced the appointment of Paul Chisholm to the company's Board of Directors. Paul Chisholm brings nearly 30 years of managerial and business development experience in the telecommunications industry to Sycamore Networks. With the addition of Chisholm, the Sycamore Board of Directors now has 6 members. Mr. Chisholm is currently president of Paul Chisholm Inc., a business and telecommunications consulting service firm to venture capital firms. From December 1996 until January 2001, Mr. Chisholm was president and chief executive officer of COLT Telecom Group, plc, a leading provider of high bandwidth voice, data and advanced telecommunication solutions to business and government customers in Europe. He was appointed to COLT's Board of Directors in 1996 and continues to serve on the company's board. Mr. Chisholm directed and developed COLT from its inception in 1992. Under Mr. Chisholm's leadership, COLT grew significantly to become one of Europe's largest service providers, operating networks in 27 cities across 11 countries and completing successful stock offerings on both the London Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market. Prior to joining COLT, Mr. Chisholm was vice president and general manager of Teleport Communications Boston, Inc., one of the first competitive access providers in the U.S. He has also held senior management positions at Shawmut Bank in Boston, New England Telephone & Telegraph Co., and AT&T Corp."Paul brings a wealth of managerial and telecommunications industry expertise to Sycamore," said Daniel E.
