Lawsuit alleges that Broadcom infringes six U.S. patents

NEW YORK -- STMicroelectronics, Inc. today announced that it filed a lawsuit for patent infringement against Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ:BRCM). The lawsuit has been filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The lawsuit alleges that Broadcom infringes six U.S. patents - United States Patents 5,031,092; 5,347,185; 5,515,225; 5,946,261; 6,025,746 and 6,087,709. Those patents cover technology used in various semiconductor products, including products used in cable modem, set top box, and high speed networking applications.
