KISTA, Sweden -- Spirea AB, a leading developer of integrated RF solutions for the Short Distance Wireless market, today announced it is now sampling TripleTraC, the world’s first integrated tri-band 5.8GHz/5.2GHz/2.4GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) transceiver. TripleTraC, designed to provide the most cost effective RF solution for multi-standard WLAN chip-sets, supports IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b and IEEE 802.11g(draft) standards on a single chip. Spirea expects the chips to be in full production by Q2 of 2003."TripleTraC enables our chip-set partners to create very low cost multi-standard 802.11 solutions with a minimum investment in RF resources,” said Johnny Johansson, President and CEO of Spirea. “By achieving the lowest cost, smallest form factor and most power efficient radio chip for WLAN, Spirea has empowered our partners to offer OEM’s highly integrated multi-standard solutions with a greatly reduced time to market.TripleTraC is a true single chip radio solution. The chip is based on a CMOS reconfigurable radio transceiver architecture. Moreover, the design provides a high level of integration and significantly reduces the number of external radio components typically required with other solutions.Spirea AB
