Setram International to acquire Agilent Technologies' Wizard Wireless Network Planning and Design Tool products

PALO ALTO, Calif. and ATLANTA -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) and Setram International today announced an agreement for Setram to acquire Agilent's Wizard Wireless Network Planning and Design Tool products within Agilent's test and measurement business. Setram develops and markets a suite of software solutions focused on the design and optimization of advanced cellular networks. Under terms of the agreement, Setram also will acquire technical support and training associated with the products. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Agilent's Wizard Wireless Network Planning and Design Tool is a high-precision 2G, 2.5G and 3G network planning and design tool that helps wireless service providers plan for network growth and manage next-generation technology migrations. Wizard's innovative capability of modeling network conditions at the deployment phase helps reduce the typical design cycle time up to 20 percent.
The divestiture is part of Agilent's overall effort to refine its strategic focus. The company will continue to provide a wide range of other leading wireless instrument products and services, including base station test sets, attended drive test systems and unattended drive test solutions as well as GSM/GPRS/UMTS/cdma2000 analysis tools. Agilent remains committed to providing leading-edge wireless OSS monitoring and management solutions.
Twenty-eight Agilent employees in Melbourne, Fla., are affected by this transaction. Setram is offering jobs to the majority of these employees.

The transaction is expected to close in the next month, subject to closing conditions.
