ATLANTA -- Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco company, has earned MEF 9 certification for its Prisma IP™ Platform for all three Ethernet services defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). Iometrix, the MEF authorized lab, has certified Scientific Atlanta’s Prisma IP E500, E100, M and C Series platforms as meeting the carrier-class standard for Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet LAN (E-LAN) services.

For service providers, MEF Certification of the Scientific Atlanta Prisma IP Platform means:

  • Increased confidence in certified products that meet MEF specification;

  • Reduced time and effort required for in-house equipment selection and product approvals;

  • Reduced testing time and expense; and Faster response to demand for Ethernet Carrier services.

“The MEF qualification of our Prisma IP Platform is another confirmation of Scientific Atlanta’s commitment to Ethernet-based services, including voice, video and high-speed data,” said Mark Palazzo, vice president and general manager, Access Networks, Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco company. “The growth of the Carrier Ethernet market presents new opportunities, and this certification is just one more reason our customers can have increased confidence in our ability to meet their service needs.”
