KOMAKI, Japan -- Santec is widely known as a manufacturer of photodetector components for power monitoring in DWDM systems. IPM-8 and PM-8 are two complete sub-module solutions which combine the electronics and communication interface with the photodetectors. Both products are 8 channel devices; the IPM-8 has an integrated tap coupler for in-line power monitoring, the PM-8 is a terminated device. The 1310nm - 1610nm wavelength range, wide dynamic range and high speed monitoring (<10ms for 8 channels) enable the devices to be used in a wide variety of applications. The package size is a minute 27 x 36 x 10mm and together with low cost and the option of ribbon fiber make it particularly suitable for metro systems. IPM-8 and PM-8 will enable total cost reduction and simplified system design. They have been developed in response to customer demands for complete modules with system friendly interfaces such as I2C, RS-232 and SPI. In a separate release: Until now tunable laser based spectral measurement systems have not achieved the speeds and accuracy necessary for the manufacturing testing environment. Santec is pleased to introduce a swept laser system that tunes through 40 nm in an astonishing 2.5 seconds. It is well known that when it comes to spectral measurements that lasers offer the best resolution available. Precise control of laser wavelength and stability results in a measurement resolution of 1-picometer. Integrated wavelength and power meters make the SweptX the one unit you?ll need for speedy and accurate measurement of passive optical component performance. In a separate release: Santec, the premier source for integrated tap photodetectors, introduces a new line that adds more features to our innovative range. Inline signal acquisition is available with our high-speed integrated tap photodetector (HS-IPD). The HS-IPD allows real-time BER monitoring to be performed without interruption or degradation of data flow. In cases when a number of data signals are present on a fiber use our HS-IPD-F with an integrated channel selection filter to isolate and measure your channel of choice. The HS-IPD, as with our entire range, is available in a number of configurations in the 1270 ? 1370 and 1510 ? 1610 nm bands. In a separate release: Santec is pleased to introduce 50-GHz thin film filters designed for optical add/drop that satisfy even the most stringent demands of network architects. As you would expect from Santec, these three port filters have outstanding optical performance, incorporating a wide pass band with excellent isolation characteristics. Thin film filters have always been your choice for channel spacing of 100 GHz and above, now you can use them at 50 GHz with the same benefits of high thermal stability, low PDL and low chromatic dispersion.
