MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) market leader Optical Solutions Inc. today announced that it has been selected by Pembroke Telephone Company of Pembroke, Ga., to deploy FTTP voice, data and IPTV services to four new subdivisions in North Bryan County, approximately 28 miles west of Savannah.

Founded in the late 1800s, Pembroke Telephone and its newer broadband subsidiary, Pembroke Advanced Communications, have progressively evolved their network and operations to rival that of metropolitan areas. In recent years, the area has experienced a significant influx of city dwellers who are drawn to the slower pace and lifestyle of this bedroom community.

Pembroke Telephone currently serves 4,200 access lines, and according to Operations Manager James Reeves, will add several hundred more with the expansion of FTTP in Victoria Place, Barrington Point and two other planned developments. After trialing other equipment, Reeves selected Optical Solutions' FiberPath 500 platform based on its proven reliability.

"We knew what FTTP could do - it became a matter of finding a solution that would work," said Reeves. "We needed to deploy quickly and with confidence, and FiberPath is proven on all three counts - voice, data and IPTV."
