PEACE DALE, R.I. -- Optigain, Inc., a leading developer, manufacturer, and supplier of erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) and Raman pump module amplification products for the fiber optical communication industry, today announced the availability of improved performance in its compact single channel and narrow band erbium doped fiber amplifier gain blocks. These EDFAs feature saturated output power levels up to + 17 dBm. The single channel variant is available with gains up to 25 dB and a noise figure < 6.0 dB, ideal for metro or long haul applications requiring a low cost, small form factor gain block. The narrowband variant operates in the 1540 –1560 nm wavelength range with gain flatness of ±1 dB and a low noise figure. Either is suitable for pre-amp, in-line, or booster applications. This improved optical performance is now available in Optigain’s existing compact amplifier, the EDFA 4200 gain block, with dimensions of 90 mm x 70 mm x 12 mm. Customized small form factor packaging to meet customer’s specific requirements is also available. Please visit us in booth #4473 at OFC in Anaheim, California, March 19-21, 2002.
