The single channel variant is available with gains up to 25 dB and a noise figure < 6.0 dB, ideal for metro or long haul applications requiring a low cost, small form factor gain block. The narrowband variant operates in the 1540 –1560 nm wavelength range with gain flatness of ±1 dB and a low noise figure. Either is suitable for pre-amp, in-line, or booster applications.This improved optical performance is now available in Optigain’s existing compact amplifier, the EDFA 4200 gain block, with dimensions of 90 mm x 70 mm x 12 mm.
