HANOVER, Germany -- MRV Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRVC), a world-class leader in optical components and network infrastructure products and services, today announced the addition of LambdaDriver(TM) family to its portfolio of optical transport products. LambdaDriver(TM) is a multifunctional, modular chassis based family that provides the ability to create up to 16 high-bandwidth, full-duplex, independent virtual fiber optic links over a single pair of fibers. LambdaDriver(TM) supports either DWDM or CWDM technology, providing a flexible solution for Metro and enterprise optical network applications. LambdaDriver(TM) platforms also possess the unique ability for bi-directional transport of the CWDM/DWDM traffic over a single fiber. Heterogeneous chassis are available that can host both CWDM and DWDM alongside. The LambdaDriver(TM) family consists of two platforms: the LD800, capable of handling up to 8 channels, and the LD1600, for 16 channels. Both platforms share the same transponders and can handle either CWDM or DWDM technology. The hot-swappable transponders allow scalable, in-service expansion from 1 to 16 channels. Such flexibility allows a lower initial cost, using fewer wavelengths units at first, and ensuring a simple "add as you grow" upgrade system. MRV Communications Inc.
