MAITLAND, Fla. -- MILCOM Technologies today announced a strategic relationship with Nortel Networks, a global Internet and communications leader. This relationship is intended to provide MILCOM Technologies with further insight into market opportunities and market landscapes for new ventures. Specifically, MILCOM Technologies' relationship with Nortel Networks will allow both companies the opportunity to explore new avenues into the enterprise networking and communications markets, including optical, wireless, and enterprise infrastructure, and network management and enterprise networking software. MILCOM Technologies partners with defense and aerospace companies, federal laboratories, and other leading-edge research and development sources to conceive, create and launch new companies. During the past five years, MILCOM Technologies has created ten new companies that have raised over $600 million in capital. MILCOM's latest launch, TelASIC Communications, raised $22.5 million in December 2001, during its first round of financing. "MILCOM's unique approach to technology commercialization 'pulls' technology from partners such as Raytheon and ITT, based on the needs of the market," stated Jason Rottenberg, VP of Marketing and Business Development, MILCOM Technologies. "Traditional approaches to technology commercialization normally involve 'pushing' existing non-commercial technology into commercial markets. The MILCOM approach requires keen insight into the needs of the market today and into the future. Forming strategic relationships with cutting edge companies, such as Nortel Networks, will enable MILCOM Technologies to more effectively perform this assessment."
