KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Motorola’s Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTSS), a leader in integrated communications solutions, today announced that Maxis has begun a trial of its Push-To-Talk over Cellular (PoC) solution which enables people to connect with one or many users at the push of a button via their mobile phones.

The trial with leading mobile communications provider Maxis Communications Berhad will demonstrate the convenience and speed of one-touch communications for mobile workers and consumers. Maxis expects to offer PoC service to subscribers in the near future in handsets designed to incorporate this feature.

“PoC is attracting strong interest from network operators globally as an exciting new application that can generate additional revenue opportunities," said Simon Leung, senior vice president, Motorola, Inc. and general manager, GTSS Asia Pacific. “Motorola has a strong commitment to and is a significant contributor to the development of international PoC standards that will ensure the interoperability of different vendor’s handsets and server equipment. In fact, Motorola recently announced a program to license its PoC handset client software and protocol to third party handset manufacturers and software developers.”
