EISINGEN, Germany -- "Communication solutions from a single source" – this is the slogan under which Lightmaze Solutions AG,, specialist for intelligent optical networks, together with its parent company Pandatel AG,, specialist for network access and communication technology on the basis of optical fibres and copper, offers communication solutions for companies, based on carefully matched products from the portfolio of the two companies. One of the main areas is solutions for SAN (Storage Area Network) applications.

"Our customers benefit from communication solutions from a single source in many different ways", says Dr.-Ing. Niraj Agrawal, CTO of Lightmaze Solutions and Pandatel AG. "You will get an all-in-one solution tailor-made to meet your individual requirements from one single partner. In the design of the solution, we rely on tried and tested, technologically leading products by Lightmaze Solutions and Pandatel that have been carefully matched to suit each other. This saves costs and at the same time guarantees high efficiency and cost-effectiveness as well as flexibility in the solutions."

An example of a solution for SAN applications illustrates the advantage of a communication solution from a single source. It combines TDM multiplexers by Pandatel for the access network with Lightmaze YUMIX 4ooo E systems as access points to the carrier network. This combination is specially designed for cost-effective operation: the multiplexers use TDM technology (TDM – Time Division Multiplexing, also called time multiplex) to transmit several independent data streams and the related protocols, time-delayed, using one single channel with a greater bandwidth. This bandwidth is provided by the YUMIX 4ooo E using CWDM technologies (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) with optical fibres, the lower-cost WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) version. The advantages of this solution are obvious: costs per channel fall, as on the one hand fewer optical components are required and on the other hand the available bandwidths can be fully utilised through the use of TDM and CWDM technologies.
