NEWBURY, U.K. -- Wireless broadband access provider, Libera plc, has announced that Andy Leveridge has joined the company as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Leveridge joins Libera from telecoms provider XO Communications, where he held the post of Manager, European Data Centre Engineering and Projects. Libera has recently launched the first WiMAX service for UK businesses, in Bristol.

In his new role Leveridge will be responsible for all elements of design, management and purchasing for Libera's technology division. He will also play a central role in building Libera into a centre of excellence for wireless technology.

"I'm very excited to have joined the team at Libera, and can honestly say it's impossible to think of a role that would suit me better than this one," said Leveridge. "WiMAX is at a stage where it is set to see enormous growth and I am thrilled to be involved at this stage of its development."

Leveridge brings more than 25 years of experience in the service provider sector having spent 18 years as a consultant and networks manger in ICL, prior to his joining the successful dial-up Internet provider Global Internet as Technical Director. This company grew via mergers and acquisitions to become XO Communications Europe.

"We were looking for someone who had a combination of internet/data skills in addition to experience in the telecoms market to fill this role," commented Robert Condon, CEO and founder of Libera. "Andy has huge depth and breadth of experience and we felt he would complement our existing pool of knowledge."
