Len Lauer Leads PCS
Sprint names Global Markets Group president Len Lauer as new president of the PCS operation, replacing the retiring Charles Levine

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) announced today that Len J. Lauer, president of the company's Global Markets Group, has been named president of Sprint's PCS operation, effective immediately. Lauer, 45, replaces Charles E. Levine, who is retiring. On an interim basis, Ronald T. LeMay, Sprint's president and chief operating officer, will lead the Global Markets Group until a permanent replacement for Lauer is named. "During his career, Len Lauer has demonstrated the ability to successfully lead large, diverse organizations," said William T. Esrey, Sprint's chairman and chief executive officer. "His background in sales and marketing, combined with his operational experience, make him well suited to lead our wireless operation." Lauer joined Sprint in 1998 from Bell Atlantic - New Jersey, where he was president and CEO of the operation. He was named president of the Consumer Services Group in Global Markets Group in 1999 and became president of Sprint Business in May 2000. Six months later Lauer was named president of the Global Markets Group. In that position he directed the operation's domestic and international marketing, product development, sales, network operations, technology planning and information technology functions. In regards to Levine's departure, Esrey said, "Chuck Levine was an important part of the incredible growth and development of our PCS operation. Under his direction Sprint launched many industry-leading initiatives, including Sprint Vision and the Sprint PCS Wireless Web. We wish Chuck well in his future endeavors." Sprint PCS
