PETAH TIKVA, Israel -- ECI Telecom (NASDAQ:ECIL) today announced that Kyivstar, one of the largest mobile operators in the Ukraine, has selected its XDM technology to build its SDH network throughout the Ukrainian region. Installation of the network, which has already begun, will span more than 5,000 kilometers, and is being deployed in cooperation with Priocom, one of the largest integrators in the Ukraine.

Kyivstar chose ECI's XDM technology for its technical superiority, which will allow Kyivstar the flexibility of offering converged, Build-As-You-Grow(tm) SDH, Data and WDM services, creating a scalable optical networking solution. All products in the XDM family are designed around a unique single architecture that offers unprecedented capacity, cost savings and ease of integration. ECI's XDM-500, XDM-1000 and BroadGate(tm) mSDM-1 elements will be deployed in the new network.

ECI Telecom has been responsible for the design and implementation of the network, in addition to the training of the network engineers. Priocom took part in the network design and delivery, and the day-to-day management of the network is achieved in coordination with both companies.

"Our number one priority is to exceed the expectations of our customers by providing low-cost, high-quality voice and data services," said Kjell Nordbo, Kyivstar's Technical Director. "ECI supplies us with a scalable technology to provide affordable, top-of-the-line mobile communications."

"We are pleased to be working with operators such as Kyivstar to provide solutions that will increase their revenue streams while providing operational efficiency," said Irena Lisak, President of ECI Telecom's Russia and Former Soviet Union Business Unit. "Our XDM technology is perfectly suited to meet Kyivstar's stringent requirements and we look forward to getting their network up and running quickly."
