LONDON -- Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE: IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, today announced the immediate availability of more than 12,000 active wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) hotspots through its MobileXpress™ service.
With this major expansion of its Wi-Fi services, Infonet has exceeded its publicly stated plans to offer 10,000 active hotspots by the end of 2004, and now offers the world’s largest Wi-Fi footprint to its multinational clients.
“The pace of our service expansion underscores our commitment to our expanding enterprise customer base, and our ability to leverage our global organisation and expertise,” said Marc Patterson, vice president and general manager of Infonet’s Mobility Services. “While the network reach is compelling, our focus on business-oriented venues and tight security integration has drawn the strongest interest from our clients.”
Recently introducing its own hotspot coverage through its local operations, Infonet expects to double the MobileXpress wireless broadband coverage over the next year. “We are at an interesting evolutionary stage of mobility,” concluded Marc Patterson. “Our demonstrated responsibility and attention to our clients will continue to fuel the innovation and flexibility of our solutions.”
