LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Network security and flow classification market leader Hifn (Nasdaq: HIFN - News), announced today that ZyTrax, Inc. has integrated Hifn security processors into its Air-Frame-100, a high performance wireless LAN IP router that provides rugged and reliable performance over distance for use in demanding IP network applications.
ZyTrax's Air-Frame-100 LAN IP router provides features and services to suit the most demanding IP network environments. The Air-Frame 100 comes standard with an embedded Proxy server, NAT/PAT, DHCP server, Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities, a Firewall (LockBox) as well as flexible and powerful routing capabilities. For secure applications the standard encryption module provides either 'on-air' security or end-to-end VPNs using IPsec.
"The Hifn 7902 allows us to offer our customers standards based IPsec as an alternate to the compromised WEP of 802.11," says Ron Aitchison, President of ZyTrax, Inc. "The 7902 compression capability is also vital in the finite radio bandwidth environment allowing us to maximize throughput. Combining all this into a single package with modest footprint and negligible processor overhead really makes the 7902 a no-brainer decision."
"The Air-Frame-100 is ideally suited for demanding and secure IP network applications including Internet and Intranet access networks," says Doug Makishima, Hifn's vice president of marketing. "We are highly pleased that Hifn's security processors are a part of ZyTrax's Air-Frame-100."
The Hifn 7902 security processor used in the ZyTrax Air-Frame-100 performs multi-algorithm encryption acceleration on a single chip, with a powerful on-board IKE (Internet Key Exchange) processor for public key operations. Protocols supported by Hifn security processors include IPsec, IPPCP, PPTP, L2TP, PPP, and IKE. Algorithms that can be performed include DES, 3DES, and ARC4 encryption, RSA, DSA, and DH public key, SHA-1 and MD5 authentication, and LZS and MPPC compression. The processor also generates true hardware random numbers that are an essential part of the public key infrastructure. Symmetric and public key processing is performed concurrently to enable low-latency performance.
