Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe has Artix, Iona's ESB, to service enable the company's GeoStream Access Gateway platform
August 15, 2006
DUBLIN -- IONAR Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, today announced that Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd has selected ArtixT, IONA's Extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), to service enable the company's GeoStream Access Gateway platform. Fujitsu's GeoStream Access Gateway offers telecommunications carriers a multi-service access platform for the deployment of legacy and next generation services across a common network infrastructure. The combination of Artix and the GeoStream Access Gateway makes it easier for carriers to use these products in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) deployments.
Key to Fujitsu's decision was Artix's ability to support the many standards driving today's telecommunications market, including MTOSI (Multi-Technology Operations System Interface). Fujitsu is leveraging MTOSI, a TeleManagement Forum (TMF) initiative to provide a standard, open interface that facilitates ease of integration across telecommunications IT environments to deliver greater flexibility to its customers. Artix is being used to expose MTOSI interfaces within Fujitsu's GeoStream Access Gateway, offering seamless interoperability across the network and Operational Support Systems (OSS). The GeoStream Access Gateway is a central part of Fujitsu's 'single-source' strategy, which enables network operators to deploy and manage their evolving broadband requirements alongside voice services, on a common network infrastructure.
"As next generation network provisioning continues to gather pace, our goal is to ensure we fully support our customers' needs with cost-effective solutions that meet the technology requirements of today's and tomorrow's networks," said Simon Rees, General Manager, 21st Century Networks of Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd. "Artix's unique ability to support the broadest set of standards, and IONA's depth of experience in addressing the IT infrastructure needs of the telecommunications industry, met our key selection criteria."
