October 29, 2002
LONDON and HELSINKI -- The messaging management company First Hop and the UK-based telecom operator Telecom One today announced that Telecom One has chosen First Hop WAP Gateway(TM) to deliver advanced WAP and wireless Java(TM) content such as games, polyphonic ringtones, and other downloads. Telecom One uses First Hop WAP Gateway to offer its customers advanced WAP and J2ME content such as games and downloads that enable users to personalise their mobile phone with, for example, polyphonic ringtones and animated screensavers. Most operators currently do not support the functionality required for these types of downloads. "First Hop WAP Gateway met our demands to the fullest, allowing us to expand our service offering in a very tight schedule. We value the high quality of First Hop's software and their ability to deliver a uniquely complete solution that brings us immediate business benefits. With the latest technology in place, we can now offer our customers a wide variety of advanced content", says Patrick Naughton, the Managing Director of Telecom One. First Hop WAP Gateway is a secure, scalable, high-availability solution for MMS and Java downloads over WAP with a future-proof architecture that maximises ROI (Return on Investment). The product enables the delivery of MMS and J2ME content to all types of terminals from all types of download platforms, using straightforward and easy interfaces for integration with messaging centres as well as management and billing systems.
