Dobson Communications selects Glenayre's Versera Unified Communications and Voice Services solutions for GSM/GPRS network

ATLANTA -- Glenayre Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEMS) today announced that Dobson Cellular Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of Dobson Communications Corporation (BULLETIN BOARD: DCEL), has selected Glenayre's Versera(TM) Messaging platform, Unified Communications and Versera Voice Services solutions for its new GSM/GPRS network. Dobson, a leading provider of wireless telephone services to rural markets in the United States, will leverage Glenayre's Versera solutions to offer subscribers easy-to-use services that promote greater personalization, flexibility and communications choices. "Glenayre's Versera solutions bring a robust messaging platform and a series of compelling services to Dobson's much anticipated advanced wireless network," said Bill Edwards, vice president of sales, marketing and customer service for Glenayre. "Powerful voice and data solutions, including voice- controlled messaging and voice-activated dialing, will advance Dobson's next- generation wireless messaging capabilities. They can be seamlessly integrated with other valuable applications such as multimedia messaging and presence management technologies." Dobson has begun overlaying its network and that of its 50-percent owned subsidiary, American Cellular Corporation, with GSM/GPRS technology. The companies currently offer TDMA voice and data wireless services throughout their markets in 17 states, covering a population of approximately 11.4 million, and plan to add GSM/GPRS voice and data services in selected markets in early 2003.
