CorWave XL and CorWave XF products will deliver ultra-high capacity for terrestrial (XL) and festoon (XF) links
February 7, 2001
COLUMBIA, Md. -- Corvis Corporation (NASDAQ: CORV), the only company delivering intelligent all-optical networking solutions, today announced the launch of its new class of next-generation optical products for repeaterless terrestrial and undersea festoon regional markets. The CorWaveTM XL and CorWaveTM XF products will deliver ultra-high capacity for terrestrial (XL) and festoon (XF) links, increasing network capacity and reliability, and cutting operational expenses for carriers.
Both CorWave XL and CorWave XF products utilize Corvis¡¦ proprietary Raman Amplification technology, enabling carriers to transmit up to 800 gigabits per fiber for distances as long as 350 km without the use of in-line amplifiers. Eliminating in-line amplifiers in a regional point-to-point network cuts operational costs dramatically, speeds regional network deployment and helps new and emerging carriers to produce revenue more rapidly. The Corvis CorManager Network Management System manages both products, as well as all currently deployed CorWave products.
The CorWave XF festoon product offers point-to-point links for mainland-to-island and island-to-island spans as well as multiple links along coastlines. This system can be fully integrated with the Corvis all-optical network. Both products will be available in the second quarter of 2001.
