Announces world’s first OC768 VSR transmitters and receivers

LOMBARD, Ill. -- Corona Optical Systems, Inc., an innovative producer of high-speed optoelectronic components and subsystems, today announces it has begun customer sampling of the world’s first OC-768 VSR parallel optical transmitter and receiver pairs. The optoelectronic devices facilitate efficient, high-speed optical connections in communications and data networking equipment. Corona’s modules feature a throughput of 40 Gb/s in a 13mm x 13mm BGA package—roughly the size of a dime—making them the smallest parallel devices available.Bryan R. Gregory, Corona President & CEO, stated, “Corona’s innovative, leading edge products enable OEMs to meet their bandwidth, density and manufacturability goals for tomorrow’s 40Gig systems.” In addition to size, speed and reliability, Corona’s parallel optical modules feature a Pick & Place compatible BGA package.
